Dear Beloved in Christ,
Welcome to the Wilderness. In this season of Lent we find ourselves literally in the midst of a wilderness of uncertainty regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. As you may already know the California Department of Public Health issued an advisory (here), which states “Gatherings of individuals who are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19 should be limited to no more than 10 people.” Higher risk now includes people over the age of 60, and friends that includes the majority of our beloved community.
Our church leaders want to act in the best interest of our community and the larger public. In this spirit, we arecancelling public worship on Sundays March 15 and March 22, 2020. We do not know how long (oh Lord) this will last, but know that your Ad Council and Pastor are doing our best to make healthy decisions on your/our behalf.
It is important that we stay connected during this time. Let us do what we do best: call and check in on one another. This Sunday I will post on Facebook (and email if I am able) a devotional. Prayer team members are calling the role to check in and make sure everyone received this email/information. When you hear from them, please let them know if you need any support, or if you would like to be part of the calling/support network. And, I encourage you to call a few folks on Sunday morning when we would normally greet one another. Let us stay connected and, even if it feels a little uncomfortable, lovingly saying hello, how are you goes a long way.
Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions or concerns. My cell phone number is (415) 300-7177.
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-7
